Last 'Checks and Balances' against Trump
What will stop MAGA madness?
The American Judiciary could not hold Trump accountable even after nearly 100 criminal charges on various indictments. The SCOTUS instead gave him immunity. The American people did not hold Trump accountable in elections in 2024 even when his first term was a disaster. No amount of scandals could stop Trump. Instead scandals made him more popular. American elites who should ideally reject such a madman instead gave him big funding and support.
By all appearances, Trump is an unstoppable force in American politics until now .…. when he’s collided with the forces of nature. Trump, out of madness, delusional beliefs and sheer stupidity has attempted to blow up world trade & globalization overnight. Now recall the famous scene from the film Network (1976) when Howard Beale gets a lesson about immense power of forces of finance & globalization and how they cannot be meddled with.
Now that Trump has put American economy and global economy on verge of recession/depression by blowing up the existing system of globalized world order, what will be the consequences? Will the economic agents, the capitalists, the business world, the billionaires etc still stick with Trump when he’s blowing up the existing order of world today. I think they will not. And this is probably the LAST ‘checks and balances’ that can hold Trump & MAGA movement accountable. This system of checks & balances - the forces of financial & globalized world order - is different from accountability mechanism of a nation state. These forces are brutal and they can dispose any politician no matter how powerful he is. Now we have to wait and watch how these ‘forces of nature’ deals with Trump.
