Epstein scandal in perspective

WSJ, a tentacle of billionaire Rupert Murdoch’s propaganda network, stirred quite a storm by reporting on Trump’s connections with Jeffrey Epstein. In response, Trump has sued Murdoch for $10 billion in Libel case. Epstein as we know was a serial sex offender and a Pedophile who was connected to numerous Oligarchs, politicians and well known personalities in America as well as globally.

Epstein was connected to influential people of all stripes. Some of the names that surfaced in Epstein scandal includes former President Bill Clinton, Billionaire & progressive philanthropist Bill Gates, Prince Andrew of British Royal family, economist Larry Summers, Lawyer Alan Dershowitz and many others. And if anybody who should be on top of the list is Donald Trump himself who had deep relationship with Epstein for decades.

Epstein died in prison by mysterious suicide which had all the appearances of a cover-up. But political government from neither political party was interested in pursuing Epstein investigation. Merrick Garland did nothing. Bondi is doing nothing. Obviously, Epstein is a political dynamite which no politician wants to play with. Epstein client list is real but no political party wants to bring it out. There are more mysterious events in Epstein case. Just recently, a whistleblower and a survivor of Epstein’s abuse who gave detailed testimony in Epstein case also died by suicide.

Rupert Murdoch is among the most evil persons in the world and his propaganda network is dungeon of misinformation and fake news. Murdoch’s empire is also among the key backers of Trump campaigns. So why WSJ ran a story attacking Trump? Does Murdoch’s media empire wants to bring justice to Epstein’s victim? Obviously not. Murdoch’s goal is to stir up political scandal against Trump. Recall that just a few weeks ago, Elon Musk (a key backer of Trump) was also stirring the pot on Trump’s Epstein connection. Why? Now we get to the big picture.

Trump is an instrument of American oligarchy but he’s also an annoyance and a liability. While Oligarchs get to plunder America under Trump, they also have to bear the disturbance and instability of Trump’s foolish and erratic policies like his tariffs. This is cost of doing business which they, so far, are willing to bear.

American Oligarchy decided to dismantle America and plunder the American State (US will no longer be a liberal democracy). This meant destruction of institutions, privatization of State, mass deregulation, Austerity and cutting standards of living of Americans. A typical politician, no matter how shrewd or corrupt, will not go down this path. So American oligarchy needed a deranged, imbecilic and demented person who can be installed as President to do the task. Make no mistake. Trump only got into White House after Oligarchs gave him media and internet platforms to gaslight society, they poured billions into his election campaign and they rescued him through SCOTUS immunity against countless indictments.

Trump has done the bidding of Oligarchs - he has unleashed the hostile oligarchical takeover of the state. Regulatory institutions like IRS, CFPB, FDIC, EPA etc are being hollowed out. Critical State institutions like DHS, FBI, Pentagon, HHS, DOE etc are subverted, their career civil & military service officers removed and minions are installed at key positions. I don't need to go into all the executive orders about dismantling of American civil service, defunding of critical agencies and shutting down of essential programs. Trump has done all that. Recently, Trump had his first legislative victory when he passed 'Big beautiful bill' - act with Orwellian name which will destroys big parts of social safety net.

Trump is a deranged person, a narcissist and sadist who takes pleasure in cruelty. He's also a moron and a man without any empathy who doesn't understand the consequences of his actions as he ruins lives of millions of people. So Trump is a perfect man to destroy American democracy and hence he was financed by Oligarchs. But there's also a problem. While Trump is an imbecile, he's also a delusional man, a full blown psychotic who thinks he's the King of the world and world should dance to his erratic whims. This imbecile also thinks of himself as a genius, superior to everyone else, and he thinks he has the greatest acumen on foreign policy, economy, trade and every political field. So naturally, Trump is an asset but he's also a liability.

Now we put Epstein scandal in perspective. The underlying basis of this scandal is real. Trump is most likely a sexual predator and a despicable human being which is not at all surprising. This is compatible to his sadistic psychopathic personality and his long track record of sexual deviance throughout his life. I have no doubt that Trump was a close ally of Epstein and committed all kinds of heinous crimes. But the motive of this scandal is not about giving any justice to victims of Trump or Epstein. The motive is to pressure Trump into political subservience.

Trump is meddling with Primal forces of nature - globalization, international trade and finance - which American Oligarchs don't wanna tolerate anymore. Some of the Oligarchs were naive when they thought that Trump won't be as chaotic as he's turning out to be and they’re now experiencing buyer’s remorse. As long as Trump is destroying American democracy and dismantling America's administrative State, Oligarchs have full backing of Trump. But what is this lunacy of daily changing tariffs and trade wars which has put great stress and uncertainty in economy? This American oligarchs don't approve. This is bad for business.

WSJ has opposed Trump's needless trade wars (1, 2). You see, Trump is a maverick who can't be reasoned with rationally. So the backers of Trump are using Epstein scandal to keep him under control and deterring his stupid policies that are bad for their business. Another example of Trump’s foolish policies is his war on Green transition of American economy which is hurting Elon Musk and other industrialists who are in Green business opportunities (it’s a lucrative area where China is excelling these days).

Now we look at why Epstein scandal is threatening Trump. Trump is a shameless scoundrel who commits crimes openly. Trump instigated Jan 6 riots, stole highly confidential government documents, defrauded America, committed espionage etc - crimes on a grand scale. Trump has also committed countless sexual assaults throughout his life. E Jean Carroll is just one of his countless victims. Trump has taken bribes, committed perjury, petty scams, corruption etc - all of this is well known. So why Epstein scandal is different?

You see, the Trump’s fanbase never wavered despite all the Trump’s crimes and scandals. But Epstein case has for the first time created uproar in the militant fan base of Trump which has always supported him in the past. Why is that? To understand this, you have to grasp the elemental basis of MAGA movement. MAGA movement has a fanatical plebeian component. Low information voters, conspiracy theorists, narcissistically wounded people - nihilists who have been abused in various arenas of life (economic, social, institutional, cultural, personal).

Who are these narcissistically wounded people? Many of them are people whose social status has been downgraded due to globalization and Neoliberalism (loss of wealth, employment, opportunities etc). Many of them are also people who have been systematically abused by institutions. Dr Bandy Lee has interesting thesis on abuses of American judiciary and family courts which has impacted millions of Americans. This abused and battered MAGA base is psychologically vulnerable and their anger is cunningly captured by expert gaslighter and reality TV star Donald Trump.

One of the conspiracy theory that is integral part of MAGA is QAnon movement which argues that America is run by satanic elites who are pedophiles. Trump is supposedly a savior of America who will cleanse America of these dark forces. Note that MAGA movement is a paradox, a contradiction. Trump who is the most corrupted, vile, immoral and sadistic man is paradoxically accepted as a demigod, a savior, a friend of the people by his followers. Trump has this strange relationship with its core fanbase who are ready to go to any length to support him. But allegations of Pedophilia is putting a big strain on Trump’s relationship with his base.

The MAGA plebeians, the QAnon, the anti-deep state disciples demand full expose of Epstein case. Trump cannot do this because he’s among the top of the Epstein client list (Actually neither political party can reveal the list. Democrats are only interested in scoring political points). Trump lies blatantly by saying that there’s no Epstein client list and it’s all a hoax. But these lies don’t fly with MAGA base. This is where paradox is shattering like matter colliding with anti-matter. Trump and his minions don’t know how exactly to quelch the anger of their fanbase.

So in Epstein scandal, the financiers of Trump see a noose with which they can exercise some control over this madman. Will it hold Trump down and for how long?
